March Break

We stayed at Doug's Grandfather's condo in Pompano Beach. There were people in the condo who had known Doug's Grandfather for over 20 years so we heard many stories, he was well respected and liked in that community. We spent lots of time in the water both in the pool and at the beach. It was the kids first time in the ocean. The kids kept trying to catch geko's one was on Jeremiah's camouflauge bathing suit, one on the chair in the picture. Doug finally caught the tail of one. When he grabbed it the geko dropped it's tail which continued to twitch while we all jumped backed and shouted. We then drove up to Orlando and spent time at Universal Studio's, shopping and orange picking. We picked somany oranges and grapefruit we left them on the doorstep of some of Doug's co-workers. Doug attended a conference while we were in Orlando. The weather was great and the kids did so well with our long drive down and back.

A life well lived

This weekend we went to Grand Rapids for Doug's Grandfather's funeral. He was 94 and had lived on his own up until the end of February at the time in Florida. It was a celebration of his life and all the Grandchildren participated in the service. Making up picture boards, writting and speaking at the funeral, playing piano and organ ..... Everyone who spoke Grandchildren, Doug's dad and the Pastor of his Grandfather's church were all consistent in what they had to say without consulting one another. He was frugile, loving, devoted to his wife, faithful to God, loved to joke and tease, and was a hold out to wearing a three piece suit in church. The picture was taken this Christmas 2006. We enjoyed time together as family and reflected on many happy memories.
