Lake side on Sunday

The water was warm but the air was cool. We still enjoyed some time on the boat. Along with spotting a water snake, after getting out of the water.

Jeremiah's birthday weekend

Well he waited 6 months to celebrate his birthday so we could go up to the property in July. 4 boys joined Jeremiah on a wet weekend. They caught more frogs than fish. The fish that was caught was cleaned by my dad under watchful eyes, "here is how to do it right." Lots of fun was at at the falls and hiking and on the zip line. Saturday we watched some movies we brought along ot pass the time in the rain. On Sunday when the weather improved we enjoyed some time on the lake and more time at the falls playing and hiking again.

CN Tower-Doug I'm on top of the world

I can't wait to see the tower in person. Imagine what it will look like when they program the light shows. They are working on a display to show on Canada Day. Should be fun. Here are some more pictures Doug took a top of the tower, and looking down it.

CN Tower

Well as many of you know Doug has been working on the CN Tower and lighting it up. It received some coverage after they worked on running some tests earlier this week. They kept reading up on a local chat site to see people's reactions and here are some of the pictures that were captured.

March Break

We stayed at Doug's Grandfather's condo in Pompano Beach. There were people in the condo who had known Doug's Grandfather for over 20 years so we heard many stories, he was well respected and liked in that community. We spent lots of time in the water both in the pool and at the beach. It was the kids first time in the ocean. The kids kept trying to catch geko's one was on Jeremiah's camouflauge bathing suit, one on the chair in the picture. Doug finally caught the tail of one. When he grabbed it the geko dropped it's tail which continued to twitch while we all jumped backed and shouted. We then drove up to Orlando and spent time at Universal Studio's, shopping and orange picking. We picked somany oranges and grapefruit we left them on the doorstep of some of Doug's co-workers. Doug attended a conference while we were in Orlando. The weather was great and the kids did so well with our long drive down and back.

A life well lived

This weekend we went to Grand Rapids for Doug's Grandfather's funeral. He was 94 and had lived on his own up until the end of February at the time in Florida. It was a celebration of his life and all the Grandchildren participated in the service. Making up picture boards, writting and speaking at the funeral, playing piano and organ ..... Everyone who spoke Grandchildren, Doug's dad and the Pastor of his Grandfather's church were all consistent in what they had to say without consulting one another. He was frugile, loving, devoted to his wife, faithful to God, loved to joke and tease, and was a hold out to wearing a three piece suit in church. The picture was taken this Christmas 2006. We enjoyed time together as family and reflected on many happy memories.

Skating, skating, when the days are cold

Well the skating rink got much use over the cold months of January and February. With birthday parties, young people from the church, neighbours and friends. It expended lots of energy after school. It even came with lights for night time skating. Next year a sound sytem and a disco ball. Maybe for the summer we can turn it into a splash pool?

Go Diego Go

Well February has been busy months for birthdays in our household. Elizabeth's birthday with a Go Diego Go party. Was lots of fun with animal rescues and skating on the back rink. She had a safari snack station and a Diego Taco bar. Much to her delight she received many Diego and Dora presents. Her brother Jeremiah took the pictures on his new camera from Christmas. (Jeremiah is waiting for warmer weather to celebrate his February birthday so he can do a campout at his Grandparents property with friends.)

January catch up

Well with blogger switching over it took awhile to get logged back in so here is some catching up for January. My sister-in-law Jen has been taking cake decorating courses and so Doug on his birthday benefited from her lessons. The icing was waxy and we were warned not to eat it. The next time Elizabeth went to eat a cake Aunt Jen had made she asked Uncle Mike can you eat this icing Uncle Mike.
